Where do I begin? When our daughter Ash offered to redesign our pool house, we had no idea what we were in store for — but she exceeded every expectation we had and then some.
What was once a poorly configured, underutilized space is now one of our favorite places to be. Ash reconfigured two small bathrooms into one beautiful, spacious bathroom with an exterior door — so the kids can come straight in from the pool without tracking wet footprints through the house — and a proper utility, laundry, and storage room that keeps everything organized and out of sight.
She transformed an old storage room into a stunning bedroom with large windows and sliding glass doors that open directly to the pool and look out onto my husband's beloved yard. My husband jokes that he loves to stay down there because he feels like he's on vacation when he wakes up to that view. It has truly become the perfect guest house for when friends and family come to stay.
She kept what was worth keeping — our vintage wood burning stove and that gorgeous hunter green cast iron sink — and built something new and beautiful around them. The kitchen and living spaces now perform so much better for our children and grandchildren's use — functional, open, and made for the way our family actually lives. And then there's the gazebo. On a hot South Carolina afternoon, there is no better place to be. Ash designed it as a place to breathe, gather, and escape the heat — and that is exactly what our whole family does, every chance we get.
Ash has a rare gift. She listens deeply, sees possibilities others miss, and never loses sight of how a space actually needs to work for the people living in it. Every decision she made — from the exterior bathroom door to the sliding glass doors to the reconfigured layout — had intention behind it. Function and flow are at the heart of everything she does, and it shows in every single detail.
She didn't just redesign a pool house — she gave our whole family a place to gather, rest, and make memories for years to come. The space is more beautiful than we ever imagined, and more functional than we ever thought possible. We are so proud of her and so grateful. We couldn't recommend her more highly.
